MLG, IEM add Starcraft 2
Two of the biggest leagues in the world have added StarCraft 2 to their respective circuits.
Major League Gaming and ESL’s the Intel Extreme Masters have both added Activision Blizzard’s hit title Starcraft 2 to their circuit.
ESL’s IEM was a shoe in to add it, as Michal “Carmac” Blicharz, famed journalist and now organizer of IEM, teased on an episode of Live on 3, hosted by his good friend Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham.
It was also very likely for MLG’s circuit to add it to their roster, as they had run a show match series during the beta period of the game, hosted by MLG’s JP McDaniel and famed StarCraft commentator Sean “day9” Plott.
Now it is official - both leagues have picked up the title. However, the way they host it will be very different.
IEM will hold qualifiers for its events, much like all of the other titles in its circuit, while MLG will hold open tournaments at their Pro Circuit events.
The first event for IEM will be at IEM GamesCom and the first MLG event will be IEM Raleigh.
